Raw Palm Nuts

Palm nuts are the seeds of oil palm trees, primarily the African oil palm (Elaeis guineensis) and the American oil palm (Elaeis oleifera). These nuts are enclosed within a fleshy fruit known as a palm fruit or oil palm fruit.

The palm fruit typically contains one to three palm nuts, each surrounded by a hard shell or endocarp. The nuts are oval-shaped and vary in size, depending on the variety of oil palm and the stage of maturity of the fruit.

Palm nuts are highly valued for their oil content, which is extracted through a process called palm kernel oil extraction. Palm kernel oil is a versatile vegetable oil used in various food, cosmetic, and industrial products. It is known for its stable properties at high temperatures and is commonly used in cooking oils, margarine, shortening, and processed foods.

In addition to palm kernel oil extraction, palm nuts can also be processed to produce palm kernel cake, a byproduct that is used as animal feed. Palm kernel cake is rich in protein and fiber and is commonly used as a supplement in the diets of livestock, poultry, and fish.
